Arriving in the UK? How to build your credit score smoothly

June 1, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

When you first arrive in the UK, it’s not easy to access credit. This is because most lenders focus on your UK credit history when deciding whether to approve your application. If you have just arrived, you won’t have a credit history, which makes accessing loans harder than you would have hoped. In this post, we look at how credit works in the UK and give you some tips on how to build your credit score from scratch.

What credit score are you given when you arrive in the UK?

Experian clearly states that “credit scores can’t cross borders.” So, if you’re a new resident in the UK, you have to build your score from scratch. This means you will have a blank slate to work from. Traditionally, lenders want to know if you have a track record of repaying debt in the UK before approving your application. If you’re new to the country, you’re an unknown entity to lenders, which means they see you as a risk. However, you can retrieve a copy of your credit history from your home country, and you can share it with a UK lender. Although it won’t guarantee approval, it can help with your application. You should also be mindful of the fact that each credit agency scores in different ways, for instance:

Experian

  • Very poor – 0-660
  • Poor – 561 – 720
  • Fair – 721 – 880
  • Good – 881 – 960
  • Excellent – 961 – 999

Equifax

  • Very poor – 300-579
  • Poor – 580 – 669
  • Fair – 670 – 739
  • Good – 740 – 799
  • Excellent – 800 – 850

TransUnion

  • Very poor – 0 – 550
  • Poor – 561 – 565
  • Fair – 566 – 603
  • Good – 604 – 627
  • Excellent – 628 – 710

How can new arrivals increase their credit scores?

New arrivals in the UK often ask – how to build a credit score? – but it’s not the easiest question to answer. In fact, borrowing without a credit score is a bit of a catch-22. However, there are some things you can do:

Open a bank account

The easiest way to show UK credit agencies that you can manage your money is by setting up a UK bank account. Just make sure you stay below the overdraft limit.

Use a credit card

If you show discipline with your spending and keep within your limits, using a credit card is another good way of showing credit agencies that you can be trusted with credit. Credit card companies are more accessible to new arrivals than personal lenders, so it’s a good first step to take if you’ve recently arrived in the UK.

When you settle in the UK, head to the government’s website and register to vote, as it’s one of the first things that credit agencies look for.

Apply for a mobile phone contract

Signing up for a mobile phone contract is a form of credit, and you can use it to your benefit. Providing you make regular payments, the details will be logged favourably on your credit report.

Make regular payments count

In most instances, everyday payments and rent bills don’t count towards your credit score, but you can change that. Using a service like Credit Ladder shares details of your everyday payments with the credit unions, which can help you build your credit score from scratch.

How long will it take to build a credit score from scratch?

Unfortunately, there’s not a simple answer to this question. This is because agencies don’t disclose how long it takes to build a credit score and how exactly scores are given. However, taking the above steps should help to improve your score, and you should see results within a few months. However, achieving a good credit score will likely take several years, as lenders want to make sure you can be trusted before giving you a chance.

Can you plan in advance?

There isn’t a great deal you can do before travelling to the UK to build your credit score. Most UK banks offer International accounts, but they typically have fees and minimum balances that equate to around £25,000, meaning they won’t be suitable for everyone. One of your first ports of call when arriving in the UK should be setting up a bank account, which you can do once you have proof of address.

Can you get a loan without a credit score?

In the UK, you can get a loan without a credit score. In fact, it’s an issue that Koyo Loans is acutely aware of, given their founder moved to the UK in 2016 and found credit difficult to come by. As a result, Koyo Loans uses Open Banking technology to securely view bank account data, which enables the company to verify affordability. This levels the playing field and allows new UK residents to access credit where they might previously have been denied.

What happens if you move to the UK for work?

If you’re moving to work in the UK, you will still have to start your credit score from scratch. Some employers offer their staff one-off payments to get started in the UK, but this doesn’t always materialise. If you need credit, applying for a conventional loan is likely to be difficult. But again, opting for an Open Banking lender like Koyo Loans is a good option, as they will see your income arriving in your bank account.

Recap: How to build credit score in the UK

While it’s certainly not easy to build credit score in the UK from scratch, it’s certainly not impossible. Following the tips introduced above and applying to an Open Banking lender like Koyo Loans will help you access credit when you’re new to the country and will help you build your credit history from a blank slate.

Lead Better With These Top 4 Must-Have Skills

June 1, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

C:\Users\Amna Sheikh\Downloads\pexels-fauxels-3184405.jpg

Leading a team is an important skill for almost any career. These skills help at every step of the way, from searching for work to performing well in interviews to working in a team. Therefore, when choosing an education or career path, you should focus on mastering this one skill. Once you have the right knowledge to lead better, you can easily make your way into the crowd and reach on top. It’s not off beam to say being a competitive leader is about having a set of personality traits and communication skills.

Leading doesn’t just come from polishing one skill; it requires a combination of skills that assists you throughout. The question arises, which skills must you have to lead more effectively and receive a better response from others? Let’s find out.

How do you define leadership skills?

Leaders need skills to organize people and reach their goals more effectively. Some people are born with these skills; therefore, they are often described as “born leaders.” Others learn them during highly effective leadership-oriented online and offline degree programs or through on-the-job training.

Online programs such as MS in Educational Leadership offer training courses that instill and polish leadership qualities. The programs are designed to improve your ability to lead teams, delegate and handle responsibility, be flexible in solving problems and influence others to work on your guidelines and vision.

The acquired qualities will increase morale and instill positive energy in your team when you are in management positions. The goal is to make them complete multiple tasks, follow deadlines, and remain positive. Keeping your employees focused on their goals, being result-oriented, and ultimately being loyal to your organization relies on your ability to lead and motivate them. Therefore, leadership is more than a single characteristic; it is an umbrella term that encompasses many traits.

Skills specific to leading include:

1.       Communication skills

Leading people requires being able to convey your message succinctly. Your employees need to know your organizational goals, vision, and expectations. In addition, leaders must master all modes of communication, including departmental meetings, one-on-one conversations, and staff conversations. Through your ability to communicate, you must be able to earn the loyalty and dedication of your employees toward achieving the goals for organizational success.

Listening actively to your employees is part of effective communication – you need to be available for them whenever they need you. You should also give your employees the confidence that their opinions and suggestions will be heard and valued. Clarity, articulation, ability to explain and express, presentation, non-verbal communication, and reading body language are all aspects of effective communication skills

2.       Decision-making skills

Every day you are faced with problems and situations where you must make a quick decision. This is why being an effective leader requires decision-making skills. With all the information you have and your past experiences, you must be able to make decisions on the fly. As you gain knowledge about your industry and work, you learn to make better decisions. Determination or decision-making skills are highly regarded since they help you complete the project on time.

Effective decision-making has its own components necessary to help you improve. They include research, problem-solving, the ability to process a large amount of information in less time, and goal setting. By making better decisions, you can improve the performance of your team or department in the long run.

To make better decisions, you should be able to draw on your previous experience with similar projects, determine what might be beneficial, and take action confidently. By being self-assured, you will also be a beacon of hope and confidence for your employees.

3.       Motivate people around you

Leading is not about working alone; instead, it is about setting goals, fulfilling responsibilities, and making others stick to the goals. Many people working with you need constant motivation to stay focused on their final goals or meet deadlines. To lead better, you must motivate and inspire others to go the extra mile for the organization. Giving your employees a good salary is not the only way to encourage them. Employees feel more motivated when their work is recognized and their efforts are appreciated. Encouragement through rewards and praise for good work also increases employee self-esteem.

It is also beneficial to give your capable employee more responsibilities, which will help them gain a greater voice in the organization. Having a certain level of autonomy is also motivational for many employees. However, as not all workers are the same, they cannot all be encouraged the same way. To make your efforts more effective and make your employees passionate about their work and more productive, you should learn what motivates them.

4.       Optimistic attitude

Working in a team and leading individuals with a range of temperaments calls for optimism. You should be able to laugh with others when things do not go as planned or have fun when milestones are achieved. A positive attitude brings energy to the work environment. Having this system in place will make it easier for your team members to bring up their concerns and ask for help.

Your positive attitude makes the work environment less stressful, even on the busiest of days. Additionally, you will notice that your employees are eager to come to work, willing to delve into new assignments even if they are complicated, and more likely to work long hours. People feel stressed when working with someone who displays negative behavior. Having a positive attitude includes developing a rapport with your employees and team members, encouraging them to do good, helping others in their tasks, being empathetic, and adding humor to the work environment, to name a few.

Conclusion

Being a better leader means leading others towards achieving organizational goals more effectively. It is not one skill; rather, it is a combination of a variety of skills that make you a good leader. You must be able to communicate effectively, motivate and encourage your teams, and display responsible behavior.

Leadership must have the ability to influence people, making them loyal members of the organization. You can enhance an organization’s ability to achieve its goals, earn profits, and retain highly skilled employees with effective leadership skills.

Learning to Be a Mother

May 31, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

A mother is something that many women turn into, yet they don’t necessarily learn how to do it. It’s certainly no easy task and it isn’t always a case of instinctually picking up what is required of being a parent. Instead, being a mother is something that women with children must learn to do. Mistakes will be made along the way, and that’s okay. As long as the mistakes are identified, addressed, and not repeated, every experience is a learning curve. Listed below are some of the most important steps that women should take when learning to be a mother.

Putting Your Child First from Conception

One thing that seems alien to non-mothers, is that mothers must put their children above everything and everyone, including themselves, right from conception. This means attending all the necessary appointments, such as the 12-week scan and prenatal paternity test. Additionally, you must refrain from anything you enjoy that may harm the baby like smoking, drinking, and even caffeine intake. Once the baby is born, you’ll need to cater to their every whim and make sure they’re changed and fed whenever they need it. Even when they’re old enough to do everything for themselves, good mothers will always put their children first.

Giving Plenty of Affection

Affection is incredibly important to a child’s development, and their interaction with such will affect their relationships in later life. With this being said, there’s no one way to give affection, and every child is different. For instance, some children with conditions such as autism may struggle with traditional forms of affection. It’s important not to force your child into situations that make them uncomfortable, but rather find modes of affection that are best suited to them. Similarly, it’s important not to push children into doing things that they really don’t want to do, as this interferes with their understanding of consent.

Loving Your Child Unconditionally

Children will make mistakes and sometimes they’ll say and do things that really hurt. Despite this, it’s your duty as a mother to love them regardless of what they do and also make it known to them that you’ll love them no matter what. If a child believes that you’ll love them regardless of what they may do, they won’t be as hesitant to come to you when they really mess up. As with all families, there will be times where you don’t particularly like your child, but even in these moments, your love for them must remain.

Enforcing the Importance of Experience Over Things

If you’re fortunate enough to be able to provide your child with all the latest toys and games, that’s great, and you shouldn’t be penalised for doing so. Despite this, you should also make sure that your child understands that things and possessions are not what’s important about life. You should always enforce that experiences are much more valuable than even the most expensive of goods. Children don’t understand the value of money, and this can be really positive, as you can encourage them to see the value of experience over financial worth.

Give Praise

Praise is imperative when it comes to nurturing a child, and it shouldn’t be withheld from them. It acts as a form of positive reinforcement, and if they’re recognised for doing good, they will continue to do so. Similarly, receiving praise contributes to one’s confidence, meaning a child who gets praised for their achievements will continue to endeavour towards new goals. Most importantly, it’s vital to praise effort over results, so that children understand that it’s okay to fail and not get disheartened by it.

4 reasons why online testing is more secure than pen and paper tests

May 30, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

Ensuring that your educational institution is working efficiently and securely is the aim of any educator. However, many steps need to be taken to ensure that processes remain confidential and security is present for any test.

Online testing has been long touted as the optimal method to heighten security. It is one method to ensure students don’t cheat and prevent other security lapses. Here are four reasons why online testing is deemed more secure than traditional exams:

No Middlemen

Many people are bound to be involved whether you’re preparing a small-scale assessment or a large-scale entrance examination. Many personnel are engaged throughout the process of designing and holding a test. There are people in charge of preparing the test questions and printing them for those who distribute papers at the assessment centres. It is not uncommon to have a test paper go missing with so much involvement, and no one takes notice.

These missing tests can cause a lot of damage when they are in the wrong hands. They can cause the examination to be cancelled or encourage students to cheat. It can also lead people to sell leaked papers, which is illegal and can cause harm to your institution.

In contrast, no personnel is required except those invigilating and designing the exam when test papers are released online. It ensures that fewer people have access to it and lessens unnecessary involvement. Having safeguards to prevent students from cheating on online exams is essential for any reputable institution.

Fewer Chances of Leakage

Test papers are at risk of being leaked at any time. Whether a break-in has occurred or someone has intentionally stolen the test from a secure place is something that can happen. You have to find an online assessment platform to ensure this doesn’t happen.

These platforms are secured against hackers and have the highest level of protection. You don’t have to worry endlessly about the assessments getting out when these platforms are in charge of the security.

Released On-Time Every Time

In some areas, due to unforeseen circumstances or various reasons, paper assessments can be released early and later on other sites. Consider online platforms when you want to ensure that everyone is receiving the evaluation simultaneously. These platforms have an automatic timer and clock, so they can only start when the time begins.

Students won’t be able to access the assessment before, and you don’t have to run around ensuring that everyone has got their test paper on time. You can track it through a dashboard and see who’s giving what assessment and when.

Better Verification Procedures

As one of the precautions to prevent students from cheating on online exams, verification procedures are more comprehensive on online platforms. They can require a retina scan or a biometric verification. It ensures that only the student supposed to be giving the exam is offering it. Chances for forged IDs and cheating are significantly reduced through this.

Choose Online Testing for Your Students

When you want to ensure a safe and conducive environment for your students to grow in, eliminating the chances of cheating is crucial. Using online assessment platforms can make your students adhere to their morals and prevent anything wrong from happening.

Find a platform that emphasizes security and ease for your convenience. Ensure that you read the reviews and check whether they’ve had a security lapse before.

Benefits of Butterfly knives

May 27, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

Butterfly knives, also known as balisongs, are knives with two handles that counter-rotate around the tang. They are typically used as pocket knives or for EDC (everyday carry). Many people think that butterfly knives are cool because of their unique design and the fact that they can be flipping them open and closed.

While butterfly knives may look cool, they actually have a number of practical benefits as well. For one thing, the fact that they have two handles means that they are more balanced than other types of knives. This makes them easier to control and less likely to slip out of your hand.

Another benefit of Damascus knives is that they can be opened and closed with one hand. This is convenient if you need to use your other hand for something else, such as holding a flashlight.

  1. Finally, butterfly knives are generally very sharp. This is because the blade is folded into the handle, which makes it easier to sharpen.
  2. If you are looking for a cool-looking knife that is also practical, a butterfly knife may be the right choice for you.
  3. Modern-day folding knives allow hunters, fishermen, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts to carry along a versatile tool that is easy to transport. In the past, knives could be quite unwieldy as they were not foldable and had to be sheathed for added protection.
  4. These days, knives can be folded and easily stored in one’s pocket. Depending on personal preference, there are folding knives made with varying blade compositions and with a number of extra features.
  5. Some of these features can include a gut hook, serrated blade, or even a fire starter. The choice of what type of knife to buy depends on the individual and their specific needs.
  6. When it comes to folding knives, butterfly knives are often thought of as being the coolest because they can be flipped open and closed with one hand available at Online Knife store.
  7. While they may look difficult to use, they are actually quite easy once you get the hang of it. Plus, they offer a number of benefits that other knives do not.
  8. For instance, the fact that they have two handles makes them more balanced than other types of knives.
  9. This is important because a well-balanced knife is less likely to slip out of your hand and cause an accident.
  10. Another benefit of butterfly knives is that they can be opened and closed with one hand. This is convenient if you need to use your other hand for something else, such as holding a flashlight.
  11. Finally, butterfly knives are generally very sharp. This is because the blade is folded into the handle, which makes it easier to sharpen. If you are looking for a cool-looking knife that is also practical, a butterfly knife may be the right choice for you.

What are the special characteristics you can observe in a child in their first 5 years?

May 26, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

Every child is special in their own way. When a baby is born from that very beginning, they start to learn and adapt to the world around them. From the first word they utter to the first crawl, and the first walk, every activity seems to be so special and memorable for parents.

The first 5 years of a child is the major development period of their lives as, whatever they learn, observe and achieve will become a milestone for the rest of their life. So, it is very important that you observe every characteristic of our children minutely.

One can also take help from Bruce early learning centre. Mini Miracles is one of the most popular early childhood centres in Bruce, which can guide you regarding these techniques.

What are the special characteristics that are noticeable among the child upto 5 years?

From birth up to upto the age of 5 years, here are a few characteristics of a child that you can notice –

  • Simple reflexes

During the initial phase, after birth, a baby will try to understand the surroundings with simple reflexive activities. Your baby will start the sucking process through its mouth to eat its food.

They will start following interesting objects through their eyes and also do palmar grasp movements with their palm. They will also make several faces while they sleep like smiling, crying etc. But these are all simply reflexive activities.

  • Habits

Also after a few weeks of birth, from 4-8 months, your baby will start to develop their habits. They may use their hands and legs frequently. The song you might sing for them could become their favourite and they just love to listen to it repeatedly.

So, you can slowly start to create their food habits and sleeping habits etc. at this phase. Your baby will adopt this culture.

  • Start recognising faces

Also, by the time your baby becomes 4-8 months old, he will start recognising faces little by little. This is the time when they genuinely smile by seeing you. They will respond to the playful activities that you perform with them.

  • Coordination of organs

Now after 8 months to almost 18 months, your child will learn to move their hands and legs in a better way. They will learn the coordination of organs. Now, they can start to try walking, crawling etc. They will also try to utter a few words.

  • Learning capabilities

After 18 months to upto 2 years, the child will start to learn new things. This is the perfect time when one must introduce early childhood education to their kids.

If you are living in Bruce, then you might consider Bruce’s early learning centres, Mini Miracles, as your child’s early educational support. As they are one of the best options you have here.

  • Explore knowledge

From the age of 2 years to upto 5 years, your little kid will become more and more curious. They will start exploring their sphere of knowledge. By now, they are completely accustomed to the atmosphere around them.

You can now know about their interests, dislikes etc. This is the phase when a child’s development occurs in terms of mental growth, physical growth, and emotional growth. They will slowly learn socialization.

At this phase, your child needs extra care and attention. They should be valued. This phase will also develop their confidence level.

Pre-schooling is a must thing to do at this phase as here a child can flourish in their own space without the fear of judgement. The positive environment of a child care centre will help your little one to learn lots of things through playful activities. One of Bruce’s early learning centres, Mini Miracles could be completely entrusted with this responsibility. They will help your child to make a better version of themselves.

How To Gain Fair Compensation in A Mesothelioma Case?

May 24, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

pexels-karolina-grabowska-7875996.jpg

It is estimated that more than 1500 people in the USA are diagnosed with mesothelioma. This is because people are exposed to the dangerous asbestos. Mesothelioma disrupts not only the life of the person suffering from it but also of their entire family. In most cases, people suffering from mesothelioma do not get to spend a long life with their loved ones.

The question at hand is whether or not a person can gain fair compensation in a mesothelioma case. Well, of course, it is possible to get proper compensation in such cases. Hiring a lawyer can cover the compensation to handle and take care of the financial losses that a person faces after being diagnosed with mesothelioma. The lawyer can then take legal action on your behalf against the people or organization that was careless, and then people got exposed to asbestos. Such lawsuits can often last long, so it is always advised that you hire a lawyer that has very solid experience in working on such cases and is determined to win the case. A person that got exposed to asbestos must take legal action and get compensation as it can save other people from such a danger in the future.

Here is what you need to understand about a mesothelioma case to gain fair compensation.

  • The Various Types of Compensation in Mesothelioma Cases

You will also require some essential legal tips before you decide on a specific course of action in such a scenario. So, with the help of a legal professional, the people that suffer from mesothelioma due to being exposed to the dangerous asbestos because of the carelessness of businesses and corporations can go for one of the few options available for getting their due compensation.

Most of the companies that have seen cases of mesothelioma due to their production or work processes have set up a mesothelioma fund. These funds are very important for those suffering from mesothelioma. If a company or business has such a fund, then if a lawsuit is filed against them, they transfer the funds right away. So, the patient should check whether or not their workplace has such a fund in place. This is the best compensation type if they do as it is not troublesome.

Then there are companies that have a policy in place that it is better to settle a claim for a mesothelioma case right away instead of spending a huge fortune on legal procedures to fight against that specific claim. So, if a person suffering from mesothelioma can settle a lawsuit with the company internally, it is always advised that they should do so as going to the court will cost them a lot of money too.

Lastly, the option that is left is going to trial to get compensation. You get into a risky situation by going to trial because you never know if the verdict will be in favor of the defendant. But, if you have a strong and well-experienced lawyer, it will be a major certainty that you will get the compensation you are fighting for. So, while there are about three major options, all of them have a certain level of complexity to them. Hiring a solid lawyer is the right way to go, no matter which option a person takes.

  • When to File the Case?

The lawsuits for a mesothelioma case should be filed within a certain period of time after a person is diagnosed with it. Consultation with a lawyer is important as they can give you such critical and specific details. The legal conditions and requirements vary from place to place. This is why visiting a lawyer is essential, as people might not be aware of the legal obligations of the area they reside in and the company’s location against which the lawsuit will be filed.

  • Determining A Case of Mesothelioma

First of all, you should be aware that the determination of a case of mesothelioma is a very complex and multi-layered process. The first correct step for determining such a case is consultation with a lawyer with a high-level experience. Such a lawyer will be able to break down the entire scenario for you to get an idea of the amount of compensation you could get. Also, good lawyers that have worked on such cases are usually bound to win such lawsuits.

The person suffering from mesothelioma should also have a family member or loved one with them that can make records of their suffering from mesothelioma. Such a person can get the patient’s important medical documents and other information to the lawyers if required.

  • Determining Exposure to Asbestos

People are not sharp enough to remember all of their employment situations and work conditions, but that is what lawyers are there for. A good lawyer will be able to analyze the employment records to determine how and where there could have been exposed to asbestos. The person suffering from mesothelioma could try and figure this out themselves, but a lawyer’s work will always be a bit more accurate and precise.

If the exposure to asbestos is determined incorrectly, it can significantly lower the winning chances, and the defendant gets the upper hand.

At the end of the day, people can gain fair compensation in a mesothelioma case if they take the right steps. The right steps refer to hiring an experienced lawyer that has worked on similar cases before and won them. Such a lawyer will be able to analyze every aspect of the case and determine the key points that can make the case a winning case. The lawyer can also help in the determination of when and where the exposure to asbestos took place. Going against companies and businesses alone or with an inexperienced lawyer is always a bad option. It will always result in the defendant winning the case. If someone wants their due compensation in a mesothelioma case, it is advised to take the right steps. Rushing things will only disrupt the entire lawsuit.

6 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Be Counting Calories

May 19, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

Free Young couple selecting food in market Stock Photo

Are you on one of those diet plans where you have to count and track calories for everything you eat or drink? You must have heard that weight loss is as simple as calculating calories in and calories out, right? Cut down on an exorbitant amount of calories—specifically, 3500 calories—and you’re likely going to lose just a pound.

Thankfully, experts have begun to debunk the myth that to stay fit you have to meticulously track your calories, because calorie tracking is not a sustainable or a fun way to go through life.

Not only does strict calorie counting not translate into leading a healthy and stable lifestyle, but it might also add additional stress, confusion, and guilt on top of your messed up relation with food.

Besides, the fact of the matter is that no amount of care in calorie calculations can result in perfect outcomes every time. How your body consumes calories depends on various other factors, such as the type of food you eat or your body’s metabolic system. You can eat the same number of calories as another person yet have completely different results.

You can learn about managing your weight by visiting a health practitioner. If you aspire to be a health practitioner yourself, you can pursue a degree in healthcare administration by enrolling in a master of health administration online, a degree that is going to set you up for management position at any healthcare facility.

So, without further ado, let’s jump into the reasons why calorie counting doesn’t work and you should stop doing it.

Not practical

Most of the time you are not going to be in a setting where you can track calories for the ingredients used in your food; or use a measuring spoon, a balance, or any weight or volume measuring tool; or have any control over the ingredients used.

When eating dinner at a restaurant, having lunch with friends, or enjoying a reunion dinner you’re your family, you might be having nutritious food that doesn’t come packaged with a list of its ingredients and calorie count.

This is why calorie counting will not work for most occasions in your life. Unless you want to risk looking like a crazy person and carry your scale with you wherever you go to eat, the calorie counting lifestyle is just not practical.

If you are addicted to calorie counting, you might find it hard to let go of the controls and let your instincts take over. The main thing to be aware of is not just exactly how many grams of chicken or pasta you have on your plate, but whether or not you’re controlling the servings per plate and getting the essential macros, like proteins, carbs, and fats (in that order), into your food.

You restrict healthy foods

Remember, the number of calories doesn’t tell you the whole story about how healthy, or unhealthy, a food is. You can eat 2000 calories of any food group with a normal calorie-counting method. You’re not essentially conscious of the nutritional makeup of those 2000 calories. For all you care, you could be eating 2000 calories of packaged or processed food.

On the other hand, 2000 calories of whole foods are entirely nutrient-wise. Therefore, calorie counting is just a really limited method of losing weight that can even stop you from taking nutritious foods, like fruits and vegetables.

It doesn’t solve the basic issue

Are you presently counting calories? Somehow, you have been led to believe that it is the only way you could live a healthier life. That’s not true.

People usually start counting calories when they wish to lose or gain weight. While counting calories might help you alter your weight for some time, It’s only a band-aid solution to a much bigger problem.

Our lifestyles are geared toward gaining weight and remaining unfit. Remaining seated for the majority of the day, we come home to slump on the sofa for the Netflix marathon with a large pack of Cheetos. If you aren’t living an active lifestyle, how do you expect your weight to change.

Sucks the fun out of eating

Food is more than just sustenance. Delicious food brings us joy and pleasure. We love passing food around the table because food is meant to be shared.

Yes, you should look into the nutritional content of your food, but don’t let calculations suck out the joy out of your food. So many diet plans completely ignore this fun element of food. These diet plans advise to cook in batches, as if cooking itself isn’t the fun part of the process. The diet plans can make you feel guilty for even indulging a little in some delicious food from time to time.

Your relation with food worsens as you start viewing food as a means to an end: weight loss or gain. Instead of eliminating the cravings, yours can worsen as you look ahead to the next time you would be able to cheat on your plan.

Labels can lie

You must know that caloric details on most food labels aren’t 100% accurate. Ask yourself, if something is gluten-free, does that make it the best option? You need to understand that food packaging can be misleading.

Most foods that claim to be low on calories are likely to have been pre-packaged. As the common rule, pre-packaged foods are the most processed. As a result, instead of spending time looking at the calorie charts, look for organic foods, as they would be found in nature, such as grains and vegetables.

Forces to ignore body needs

Your body sends your brain signals about its needs. When you’re not in touch with your body’s cues, you might easily overeat or undereat. Your body’s signals may be out of whack because of the abuse it underwent through strict diets.

In comparison, mindful eating is where you are aware of the food as you eat it. Eating mindfully develops a strong mind-body connection, so that when your body is full your brain gets the signal and you can stop in time.

You can confidently eat that which nourishes you without worrying so much about weight gain. You will naturally make healthier choices in foods and portion sizes when you are eating mindfully.

Final thoughts

Calorie counting stops you from enjoying food the right way. You start treating food as a means to an end instead of thinking it to be nature’s blessing. Therefore, ditch the scale and the calculator, give your food the attention it needs and eat healthy and balanced meals.

5 Indications To Consider Outsourcing HR For Your Business

May 18, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

Managing your small business is easier said than done as it requires handling multiple operations simultaneously. Most entrepreneurs manage human resource-related tasks internally during the initial stage of business. But as your enterprise grows, the workload enhances, and your focus diverts toward other areas of concern. You might reach a point where you consider outsourcing your payroll management, recruitment, legal compliance, and other responsibilities. Here are some clear indications to outsource your HR tasks sooner than later.

People management keeps you busy

Spending too much time managing the internal staff can divert your attention from the core business issues. You may struggle to handle different teams, understand their concerns, resolve internal conflicts, and deal with other aspects of day-to-day HR operations. Such cumbersome responsibilities consume much time and deviate you from growth-oriented practices. Having a dedicated HR partner to handle everything at the front end is a better option as it lets you work towards enterprise enhancement.

HR laws and compliance sound confusing

Understanding employee laws and compliance terms is often painful. It gets even more daunting when you have to keep track of changes in compliance regulations and follow them. The extra responsibility affects your operational, management, and financial decisions. You can rely on the professional expertise of outsourcing HR agents for relief from such complicated duties. An experienced provider is aware of common employment laws and conditions. They can assist you in streamlining compliance and protect you from paying hefty penalties.

Employee engagement is lacking

You have a reason to worry if your teams appear disengaged and disoriented. Employees may even have qualms discussing their issues directly with the top management. In these circumstances, your staff is at the point of losing job interest, and it affects their productivity. You can outsource HR with TriNet to address the low engagement concern. Leaving the repetitive tasks to an expert partner leaves room for streamlining your work culture and creating a better environment for your employees. Ultimately, it results in enhancing employee retention rates.

HR costs burn a hole in your wallet

Cost is another indicative factor in outsourcing your human resource obligations. As a small business owner, you need to manage operations within a limited investment. Hiring an in-house HR team can be an additional financial burden on your organization. Availing HR services from external partners is a viable solution. You only have to pay for different types of HR services, and the extended team takes care of your employees, payroll, and recruitment.

Accountability is missing

Accountability issues crop up when your internal teams distribute HR functions. Imagine the complexity of senior managers interviewing candidates and the financial department dispersing their salaries. Accountability might go missing in the confusion as employees fail to perform their responsibilities well enough while taking care of HR functions. But when you outsource your HR operations, respective in-house teams take better care of their key responsibilities and perform better.

Small businesses need not handle all operations on limited budgets. Outsourcing makes sense because it offers a balance between expertise and costing. Check these signs to understand the relevance of HR outsourcing for your organization.
