A Helpful Guide To Making Sure Your Employees Feel Valued

December 15, 2022 by Steph Leave a Comment

Having a satisfied and motivated workforce is crucial for any business, particularly if you want to keep your productivity levels high. In fact, if you want to ensure that your team is constantly engaged and hitting targets, then making sure your employees feel valued should be an integral part of the way you run your enterprise.

Not only will you improve your employee retention rates and prevent frequent absences, but you will also have a positive psychological impact on your workers – and that’s arguably the most important reason of all.

Keen to get started? Read on to discover some of the methods you can use to help ensure that your staff feel valued and empowered in the workplace.

Provide Them With Pleasing Perks

One of the best ways to show your staff how much you appreciate them is to give them some great perks. While many businesses offer functional benefits, such as health insurance and free parking spaces, it’s the companies that go the extra mile that tend to have the highest levels of employee satisfaction. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your staff perks; some potential options include introducing lunchtime yoga or meditation sessions; handing out free books; buying in some delicious daily snacks; and maybe even celebrating ‘bring your dog to work’ day.

Invest In Their Career Development

Helping your staff to progress in their careers is another effective means of making them feel valued. You can accomplish this by enrolling them in e-Learning classes to help them acquire new skills and develop their expertise in a range of areas – from learning management and leadership techniques through to mastering compliance and customer interactions. A Learning Management System (LMS) such as the one devised by Kallidus offers a holistic learning platform that will bring a range of benefits to your organisation and will help your employees learn in a supportive online environment.

Encourage Better Communication

If some or all of your team work remotely, then effective communication is crucial, not only for the day-to-day running of the business, but also to ensure that your staff feel listened to and appreciated. It can be easy to lose motivation and to become dissatisfied and disengaged if you are constantly working on your own with very little interaction, so be sure to catch up with your staff both collectively and on a one-to-one basis as much as possible.

Consider A Four-Day Week

These days, many of us work long hours, and the advent of mobile phones and laptops has made it harder to switch off when the working day is over. As a result, many employees have expressed the wish for more days off, even if it means getting paid less. If your staff feel the same way, then you may want to consider instituting a four-day week. It doesn’t necessarily have to be every week, but giving your team an additional day off here and there could be a great way to boost their morale and make them feel listened to and appreciated.

Celebrate The Milestones

Last but certainly not least, a wonderful way to lift your employees’ spirits and show them how much you value their efforts is by celebrating their milestones with them. By making a big deal of each workplace anniversary and celebrating their significant achievements, you will foster community spirit and build your staff’s confidence and self-esteem – which, in turn, will help them to become more engaged and productive contributors to your team.
