# Properties of Geometric Solids

Geometric Solid is a three dimensional space or we can say all geometric solids have three dimensional shapes. The geometric solids are: polyhedron, pyramids, prism, cylinder, cones, sphere, ellipsoids etc. all these have three dimensional shapes.
Now we see some properties of geometric solids which are:
Face: Geometric solids have flat surface or we can say flat sides which is known as faces of the solids.
Edges: All the edges of geometric solids join the faces of a solid.
And each corner of geometric solids is connected to the edges of geometric solids.
With the help of regular Polygon five geometric solid can be made and these Regular Polygon has same number of polygons which meet at each of the corner. Some of the geometric solids are:
Tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedrons; these geometric solids are also known as platonic solids.
Now we see small introduction about all geometric solids:
Tetrahedron– Four faces are present in a tetrahedron. It is look like an Equilateral Triangle. Tetrahedron having 3- sided shape and each vertex 3 faces are present and the total number of faces are four in a tetrahedron and six edges are present in a tetrahedron.
Cube– Six faces are present in a Cube. Its shape is just like a Square or it is four sided. At each vertex of a cube three faces are present. Eight vertices are present in a cube and 12 edges are present in a cube.
Octahedron– Eight faces are present in an octahedron. It shape is just like an equilateral triangle and it has three side. Four faces are present at each of the vertex. Twelve edges are present in an octahedron.
Dodecahedron– In a dodecahedron twelve faces are present. Its shape is just like a regular pentagon and it has five sides. At every vertex three faces are present. It has thirty edges.
Icosahedrons – In icosahedrons twenty faces are present. It shape is just like an equilateral triangle and it has three sides. At each vertex five faces are present and thirty edges are present in Icosahedrons.
