The basic operations of subtraction are stated below. Basically subtraction word is significant for subtracting or separating a part or portion from the given quantity. The '-' sign is used to represent the operations of subtraction.
Subtraction can be done by backward counting, which is the most easy and beginners method of subtraction. If we simply need to subtract 5 from 23, then we count 5 backward. So, we have 22, 21, 20, 19 and 18 as previous 5 numbers. So we get 18 as the result.
