is 0 a Rational or Irrational number?

0 is a rational number because it is counting number, a Whole Number and an integer. It can be expressed as the ratio of two integers: 0/1. 0 is both a number and the numerical digit used to represent that number in numerals. It fulfills a central role in mathematics as the additive identity of the integers, real numbers, and many other algebraic structures. As a digit, 0 is used as a placeholder in place value systems. Zero is clearly an element of the set of Real Numbers. The "whole" numbers are the natural numbers along with zero. (Zero is whole number) 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,8, ... The "Integers" number, which are zero, the natural numbers, and the negatives of the naturals (Zero is integer). It is on the number line right between 1 and -1.

The set of Rational Numbers is of measure zero on the real line. All numbers that are not rational are considered irrational. An irrational number can be written as a decimal, but not as a fraction. Example: 0/1, 2/1, 3/1. An irrational number has endless non-repeating digits to the right of the decimal point. Here are some Irrational Numbers: π = 3.141592… or 3.14 0 (zero) is rational number not an irrational number.
