How to Solve Ratio and Proportion Word Problems?

If we want to find the relation between two or more values then we use ratios. Ratios of any Numbers can be shown in many ways.
For example: if there are 19 trees and 14 plants then we can write the Ratio as:
19:14; or we can say that for every 19 trees there are 14 plants.
An equation written in the form of
S = U where both the ratios are equal are known as proportion.
T    V
For example: 7 = 3
                        9    45
Now we will see how to solve Ratio and Proportion Word Problems?
For finding the ratios and proportion word problem we see some of the steps which are:
Step1: First we have to find the relation in between the two values, so we take two values.
Step2: Then we find the relation in both the values.
Step3: We can also use cross multiplication to show the relationship among two Sets.
To solve the Ratios and Proportions we have many different ways.
Suppose we have 600 employees for 200 companies which can be expressed in the ratio as 600/200; now we have to Set the second ratio for another larger group of companies, we assume that the number of employees moves in the numerator and the number of companies moves in the denominator. Here we don’t know the total number of companies. So let the number of companies be ‘P’. The total number of employees is 3, and then the ratios of students are P/3;
Now we set these ratios according to the definition of ratio and proportion;
So the ratio is:
600 = P
200   3
Now solve these ratios with the help of cross multiplication:
When we cross multiply these ratios we get:
⇒ (600) (3) = (200) (P);
Now solve these values for P.
⇒1800 = 200P;
Here we find the value of P.
⇒ 200P = 1800
⇒P = 1800
            200
⇒P = 9;
After solving we get the value of P = 9.
