How to Multiply Fractions and Whole Numbers together and Find A Variable?

Equations in Math can be of several forms but the required information for finding some unknown (s) should be adequate. Like if we are trying to find the value of one unknown variable, then number of equations we need is one. Likewise for more than one variable we would need those Numbers of given information which can be in the form equation or any other value. If we have an equation such that it contains the fraction in one variable being multiplied by a Whole Number, then equation can be solved without requirement of any other information. But if the case is such that the fraction has more than one variable, then we would require more information to solve for the values of variables. Whole number is a real and positive Integer number. Let us learn how to multiply Fractions and whole numbers together and find a variable with help of some examples:

Example 1: Suppose we have the following equation ((4 a) /7) * 4 = 7. Find the value of 'a'?

Solution: In the given equation we can directly solve for the value of “a” as follows:

((4 a) /7) * 4 = 7,

Or 16 a /7 = 7,

Or a = (7 * 7) /16 = 49 /16,

Example 2: In case we have two equations 5 * (a) /4 = 8 and 6 ab = 9. Find “a” and “b”?

Solution: If we consider the 1st equation, we can get the value of “a” from it as follows:

(5 a) /4 = 8,

Or a = 32 /5,

Substituting the value of “a” in the second equation we can get the value of variable “b” as:

6 ab = 9,

6 * (32 /5) * b = 9,

Or b = 15 /64.
