How to Find the Height of a Trapezoid?

Trapezoid is a type of quadrilateral which has at least one pair of parallel sides. In other words a Trapezoid is a quadrilateral that has four sides, out of four, one pair of sides is parallel. Now we will discuss how to find the height of a trapezoid. We know that the area of trapezoids is given by:
Area of a trapezoid = ½ * (b1 + b2) * h, here ' b1' and 'b2' are two bases and 'h' denotes the height of a trapezoid.
Using the Area of Trapezoid we can easily find height of a trapezoid.
Let's see how we can find the height using the formula:
Area of a trapezoid = ½ * (b1+ b2) * h;
Height = (2 * area) / (b1 + b2);
Steps for finding height of trapezoid are discussed below:
Step 1: To find the height of a trapezoid area and two bases of trapezoid must be known.
Step 2: Put values of bases and area in formula given above and simplify the expression; the result we get is the height of trapezoid.
For example: If area of a trapezoid is 50 inch2 and two bases of a trapezoid are 10 inch and 20 inch respectively then height of trapezoid can be found as:
Given, area of a trapezoid is 50 inch2, bases (b1 and b2) is 10 inch and 20 inch. The formula for finding the height of trapezoid is given by:
Height = (2 * area) / (b1 + b2);
Put the values in given formula:
Height = (2 * 50) / (10 + 20);
Height = 100 / 30, on further solving we get:
Height = 3.33 inch.
So height of trapezoid is 3.33 inch.
This is how we can find height of trapezoid.
