How to Divide Decimals by Whole Numbers Step by Step?

Sequences of Numbers which starts from 0 and go to infinity are known as whole numbers. In other words all positive Integer numbers are known as whole numbers. So according to definition we can say that Fractions, decimal numbers and negative numbers are not considered in case of whole numbers. For example: 0, 2, 9, 546, 4433, 8942 and so all positive integers are taken in whole numbers. Now we will understand how to divide Decimals by whole numbers step by step.

Steps to be followed to divide decimal number by Whole Number are given below:

Step 1: First of all we take decimal number and whole number. Suppose we have a decimal 4.828, and we have to divide this number by whole number 2.

Step 2: Decimal number division is similar to simple division but here we need to consider decimal Point. If we divide 4 by whole number 2 then we get 2 as quotient.

Step 3: Then put the next term to divide the number, as we can see that, in decimal number, decimal point is next term. So put decimal point after 2 in quotient. So the quotient value becomes (2.)

Step 4: Now put next term, here next term is 8. If we divide 8 by 2 then we get 4. So put 4 after the decimal point in quotient, now quotient becomes (2.4).

Step 5: Put next number, here next term is 2. If we divide 2 by 2 then we get 1 as quotient. Now quotient value becomes (2.41). In the same way put the last digit. Here last term is 8. If we divide 8 by 2 then we get 4 as quotient and remainder as 0. So at last we get 2.414 as answer after dividing decimal number by whole number.
