Fractions on a Number Line

Any number line can be drawn with Positive and Negative Numbers. We say that on a number line 0 is the number at center. As we move to left of number line, numbers goes on decreasing and as we move to right of number line, numbers goes on increasing.
Let us learn how to represent Fractions on a number line. For this we will first check if given fraction number, which we need to represent on number line is a proper fraction or not. Thus we say that to mark a fraction on number line, we recall that fraction with Numerator < Denominator is a proper fraction and fraction with denominator < numerator is an improper fraction number. In case we have fraction as improper, we say that on dividing numerator by denominator, we will get a Whole Number, a remainder, which is a numerator and denominator will remain same.
In case the fraction is a proper fraction number, we say that fraction will exist between numbers 0 and 1. Also we say that to plot this proper fractions, we will divide the area between zero and 1 in equal parts which is equals to denominator of fraction.
Suppose we have a fraction 3/7, here we observe that fraction is a proper fraction number. So we will divide line between 0 and 1 in 7 equal parts ( which is the denominator), so we will mark third division to represent 3/7.
In order to represent improper fraction number on number line, we will first convert improper fraction in form of mixed fraction number and then marking of fraction number becomes easy.
