Equation Of A Line

The equation of a line in Slope Intercept Form is written as shown as: y = m x + c,
Where ‘m’ is the Slope of the line which is also named as gradient of a line and ‘c’ is named as the y- intercept of the line.
The parameters used in the equation of the line above can be described as:
‘y’ is the values on vertical axis.
‘x’ is the values on horizontal axis.
‘M’ is the Slope or gradient.
‘c’ refers to y- intercept that is where the line crosses the y- axis.
The calculation of the slope of the equation of a line is calculated with the help of ‘x’ and ‘y’ parameters.
There are different forms of equations of lines. Some are as follows -
The equation of a line that passes through two points [Let those points are (x1, y1), (x2, y2)] is given as
(x2 – x1) (y – y1) = (y2 – y1) (x – x1).
A Straight Line is defined by a linear equation whose general form is given as
P x + Q y + R = 0, where the value of ‘P‘and ‘Q’ both can not be zero.
The intercept form is given as
x / a + y / b = 1.
For a particular case the equation of a straight line passing through the Point (p, q) with the slope of the equation is
y = m (x – p) + q,
or
y – b = m (x – a),
The parametric form of equation and implicit form of equations are also there which are related to the vectors.

Equation of a Line Point Slope

Slope is also called as gradient of line (gradient means the points in the direction of the largest rate with addition of Scalar field), it defines the steepness of a line, incline or grade and value that is higher shows a steeper (it means having the sharp inclination), incline. It is not described for horizontal or vertical lines. In case of non - linear...Read More

Equation of a Line Slope Intercept

Slope is the gradient of line. Slope of a line is equals to Ratio of change in ‘Y’ coordinate to change in ‘X’ among two points on a line. If Slope of line is not given then it is called as vertical line and if slope of line is 0, then it is a horizontal line.
Now we will see equation of a line slope intercept:
                   y = mx + c

Intercept of a line

The intercept of a line is a Point in a graph which intersects either x axis or y axis. It can not cut both axes at a time.
Now we will see how to find the line intercept with the help of formula:
If we have a point o...Read More
