Division Operations

Different mathematical operators are used to perform mathematical calculations on the Numbers. Operations of division is one of them. Division means equal distribution of any object in equal number of parts. We can do small division by the help of repeated subtraction.

Example:

To divide 8 by 2 by repeated subtraction method:
8 – 2 = 6 ---- ( 1)
6 – 2 = 4 ---- ( 2)
4 – 2 = 2 ---- ( 3)
2 – 2 = 0 ---- ( 4)
Thus we can say that the quotient is 4 and the remainder is 0.


For larger numbers, repeated subtraction method is not a feasible solution. For this we need to perform the operation of division with the Long Division method.

Example:
To divide 24 by 8 by long division method:
