Definition of Subtraction

The basic definition of subtraction covers following statements:

  1. Reducing one quantity away from other.
  2. The act and method of finding the difference amid two figures and quantities. It is indicated by negative sign(-).
  3. A way of calculation in which the difference of two numbers or quantities is determined.
  4. A process of calculating the difference of two Numbers and quantities.
  5. To take away an element of an object, number or quantity from the total is subtraction.
  6. A mathematical calculation that reduces a quantity or number from a larger whole.
  7. The operation of reducing or taking apart a part from a larger part.
  8. The process of taking a smaller portion from a greater portion of the similar kind.


Example 1:

        G-one have 7 mangoes and he gives 3 mangoes to Krish then he is left with 4 mangoes.

7 -3 = 4

Example 2:

        If Spiderman has 10 bananas and he gives 7 to his aunt then he is left with 3 bananas.

10-7=3
